SBTHP Presents presents Celebrate Santa Barbara!

(SANTA BARBARA, CA)— The Santa Barbara Trust for Historic Preservation (SBTHP) is pleased to present Celebrate Santa Barbara! on Friday and Saturday, April 24 - 25, 2015 at El Presidio de Santa Bárbara State Historic Park. Honor the birthplace of Santa Barbara at El Presidio de Santa Bárbara State Historic Park where the original founding ceremony was held in 1782. The two-day celebration includes three events: Candlelight Dinner in the Historic Presidio Chapel, Founding Day Festival, and Rancho Roundup. You won’t want to miss this unique celebration honoring the history of Santa Barbara.
Candlelight Dinner in the Historic Presidio Chapel
Friday, April 24 from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
The two-day celebration begins with the Candlelight Dinner in the Historic Presidio Chapel a memorable evening on Friday, April 24. Beginning with a formal red carpet entrance, guests will be individually recognized as they enter the elegantly illuminated Presidio Chapel. Guests will enjoy an unforgettable taste of the past, complete with period costume and live music. This magical evening has never before been experienced in the Presidio Chapel. Savor Spanish hors d'oeuvres during a courtyard reception followed by a four-course dinner prepared by Montecito Country Club’s Renowned Executive Chef Michael Blackwell. Founding Day Festival
Saturday, April 25 from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
On Saturday, April 25, SBTHP continues its annual Founding Day celebration including a costumed reenactment of the founding ceremony, originally held on April 21, 1782. This free event begins with a mass in the Presidio Chapel honoring the founding families, followed by an outdoor Founding Day program featuring Los Soldados del Reál Presidio de Santa Bárbara, Early California dance and musical performances, and the presentation of Saint Barbara 2015 by the Native Daughters of the Golden West, Reina del Mar Parlor No. 126. Following the ceremony, enjoy on-site educational activities throughout the Presidio that focus on the history and culture of early California. Converse with costumed demonstrators and experience life in Santa Barbara as it was during the late-1700s through heritage gardening, colonial cooking, pottery making, Chumash storytelling, archaeology, and more. Bring the family and watch the Presidio come to life! In addition to living history activities throughout the Presidio we’ll celebrate all things Santa Barbara during the first Founding Day street festival, featuring Presidio Neighborhood businesses and local entertainment on an open street in the heart of downtown.
Rancho Roundup
Saturday, April 25 from 4:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.
Grab your cowboy hat and boots and join us at Rancho Roundup! On Saturday, April 25 from 4:00 p.m. to 10:00 (following the Founding Day Festival) bring your friends and enjoy live music from Double Wide Kings, Gene Evaro Jr. & The Family, Young Millions, The Caverns, and special guests. Food available for purchase from Georgia’s Smokehouse and drink locally made beer from Figueroa Mountain. Patron Tequila VIP area, dancing, and more, all surrounded by the rich history of the Presidio. If you enjoy Casa Cantina during Fiesta, you won’t want to miss this exciting new event at the Presidio! Tickets are $15 and available for purchase online on Tuesday, March 3 at 10:00 a.m.: ranchoroundup.nightout.com. $20 at the door. VIP tickets $75 per person, $125 per couple include: entrance fee, 2 Drink tickets, membership to SBTHP, admission into VIP area, and admission to Casa Cantina.
