Have you ever wondered what it might be like to step back in time and attend a wedding in the Presidio Chapel over 200 years ago? SBTHP’s new Historical Wedding Experience allows visitors just the opportunity. The original Presidio Chapel was completed in 1787 to serve the residents of the Presidio. This included over 50 soldiers and their families who resided within the fort. The Chapel was the location for many important rites of passage in the lives of these residents, including baptisms, weddings, and funerals. In the heart of El Presidio de Santa Bárbara State Historic Park today, the chapel was reconstructed in 1985, and this special space continues to serve as the site of many weddings and community gatherings.
